December Newsletter- Merry Christmas!
One of the most wonderful times of the year… with sparkle and glitter, wonder and awe, snowflakes or pretend ones for some of ya’ll. Meeting up with family & friends. Rounds of laughter and tears. Hope and delight fill the air. Gush, I just love this time of year. I will be short and to the point as it tends to be a busy time of year.
As I found my thoughts coming together to share with you this month I again found the best way to describe what I was seeing was through these tiny little wonders we call children. As an author of children’s books you probably don’t find that an oddity but it always makes me smile in the ways God encourages my heart to move in obedience.
The precious little people whose whole bodies shake at the idea of twinkling lights and presents. To watch them from afar their eyes are so bright and lively. The sweetness in the surrender & acceptance of this holiday celebration. Even those who lives may be challenging at times have moments of pure unbridled joy. Those moments are usually in a setting where they feel safe to just embrace the love of the season.
So how can we feel safe this season? Safe enough to put all the good & not so great: distractions, emotions, memories, pulls or lists aside so we can be open to just embrace the love of our heavenly Father. To focus on His role at this time of year. Not just the obvious role of sending Jesus, His beloved son for us, but to make it personal it's all about the son being sent so we can be in our Father’s care. So for this season wherever you are in the journey you can toss the cares and/or struggles you have up onto the father’s shoulder.
Shadow of the almighty is gripping me to the core about walking underneath His presence where the shadow falls. That here in this space I am protected, loved, free and at peace. That in this space, I am the perfectly and wonderfully made me, that makes heaven smile and I can expressively worship The King of Kings birth story. So I am going to turn things upside down and say that the Lord is asking for your cares; present them to him (like a present). Then dwell in the shadow of his father’s peace this season. I am going to try to do this over the next few weeks and below are some scriptures I will use to help me keep on tossing those cares.
Have yourself a Merry little Christmas…
Prayers and love to you, & all those you who dear,
Psalm 91 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition)
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty (Whose power no foe can withstand). I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I (confidently) trust! For (then) He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. (Then) He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday. A spectator shall you be (yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High) as you witness the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, there shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent. For He will give His angels (especial) charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways (of obedience and service). They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot. Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name (has personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never). He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.
